Brighton's Room

He still has his old bed, but with new outer-space bedding

His little reading nook

The mural wall and ceiling are covered with glow-in-the-dark stars and hanging planets

The mural

When we moved into our new house, it came as no surprise to us that our Star Wars-loving, Buzz Lightyear-wannabee boy would request a space-themed bedroom. He was pretty specific, too. He said he wanted his room to feel like he was in Outer Space with stars and moons and planets and everything! Well, I wasn't about to paint all of his walls and ceiling midnight blue, so we came up with a compromise. I told him I would do a space mural on one wall for him. I took him to Home Depot and let him pick out the background paint color, appropriately named "Space Hero Blue". With over 750 glow-in-the-dark stars, moons and planets (yes, it took me about 2 hours to put them all up), I have to say it looks pretty spectacular when the lights are out. Brighton of course loves it. "No more night light for me!", he said.

Of course, when Chelsea saw it she said she wants her room to be fancy, too. So I guess we're onto another project!

That is so cool! I'm jealous he has such a cool room. That mural is really fun, too! What are your plans for Chelsea's room? Princess theme, I presume;)

Wow, Lisa. That looks amazing! What a fun bedroom. Brighton is one lucky boy. I must admit I am glad you didn't use the RSL flag as your inspiration. I am afraid that the team will continue to be terrible, and leave Salt Lake, and then you would have to redo it! A space theme is so neat!
